Hi!
My name is Lisa Christine, and I created QR Ducky!!
My goal in launching QR Ducky was to combine the familiar of old school holiday decorations with the ability to play modern high-tech games on mobile devices via QR Codes.
Always having been a big (BIG!) fan of Christmas, the holidays bring us comfort because of all the comforting memories. Seeing old holiday friends in the images of Santa, Rudolph, elves and snowmen bring us back to our happy place. Enjoying the Christmas season is fun for all ages from young to old.
As a retired Kindergarten Teacher, I realize we grow older, but we do not always grow up - and that’s a good thing!
I have watched over the years as families, friends, students, neighbors, co-workers, etc. have been caught up in the Yuletide madness.
During the Christmas season everyone is busy, stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, and frazzled. Too many places to be, things to do and people to see. Sometimes we need a break to just stop and smell the holly.
As busy elves ourselves, we don’t often take time for ourselves.
QR Ducky Christmas Ornaments was created to offer a little break of joy and happiness during this hectic holiday time.
As a public-school teacher for a long (LONG) time I have seen parents volunteering in the classroom that find peace in the simplest of tasks helping a student color a picture, assemble a puzzle, build with blocks or play a learning game. My experience (back to the dinosaurs!) when we didn’t have computers in the classrooms, kids enjoyed touching, moving, holding and being part of the game. Adults enjoyed using these same basic skills and feeling proud of the simplest accomplishments and winning, too. Now life is more modern and mobile and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Once I retired from classroom teaching, I began exploring the possibilities of using QR Codes for student learning and teacher development. Living in Seattle, one of the leading tech towns in the U.S. I began my research. So many QR Code options mandated complex apps to download, compliance between Apple and Android devices, and intricate coding to develop what I wanted for my students. There had to be an easier process, I thought. So back to the classroom, to become the student, this teacher went.
After much research I found my solution. But as I soon began to share my newfound technology ideas with friends, family and fellow teachers an idea to go bigger soon emerged. How can I use this newly gained knowledge to reach more people? I had an idea.
Founded in the Fall of 2026, QR Ducky was a company created combining my favorite things: celebrating holidays, crafting, mobile technology as well as a love for fun and happiness.
The idea for using Christmas ornaments as the concept to display and share the QR Codes came from spending time with student teachers discussing classroom learning from modern technology to old school arts and crafts. Keeping this QR Code idea just for classroom use seemed too small. My goal was to have as many people enjoy these holiday fun and games as possible. Linking the QR Codes to festive and familiar childhood favorites like memory match, hidden objects, jigsaw puzzles or spot the difference games make these activities easy to enjoy, quick to play and fun for all ages.
The theory in offering the QR Ducky Christmas Ornaments in the form of a PDF was for the convenience of busy people. No packing into shopper-crazed stores and then waiting in forever checkout lines as well as avoiding the seasonal delays in postal deliveries or missing packages. When you want ‘em - you got ‘em!! Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Print and play! No waiting!
The thought behind offering classic black and white ornaments was something for folks to do over the winter break. A great way to get all the elves involved, out of your hair, or to feel included in the festivities. From young to old, holiday helpers can DIY their own QR Ducky Christmas Ornaments with markers, crayons or stickers. Then share, scan and play!!
QR Ducky is for use with both Apple (iOS) and Android mobile phones and tablets with access to the internet. With over 330 million cell phones in the U.S., we wanted to keep everyone happy and stay on Santa’s NICE list.
The games are easy to access, no app to download, no special requirements needed - just an internet connection and web browser. It’s a piece of cake - but not fruitcake - ‘cuz yuck!!
I am delighted to share QR Ducky Christmas Ornaments with you!
